Part of the cast has already been announced.
Mötley Crüe will immortalize their history in the world of cinema with the adaptation of their biography, The Dirt – Confessions Of The World's Most Notorious Rock Band.
The project will be directed by Jeff Tremaine ( Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa ) and distributed by Netflix, with filming beginning this month.
During a recent interview, vocalist Vince Neil revealed that the film's script is very close to what the book describes. "If you've read 'The Dirt,' you need to see the movie ," he said.
Douglas Booth and Machine Gun Kelly have already been confirmed for the adaptation. They will play Nikki Sixx and Tommy Lee, respectively.
Iwan Rheon, known for his role as Ramsay Bolton in Game of Thrones, will play guitarist Mick Mars, while, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Daniel Webber will portray frontman Vince Neil.
The biography The Dirt – Confessions Of The World's Most Notorious Rock Band was originally released in 2001, and its adaptation has been coveted since 2003. After many changes in the team, it seems that the project will finally come to fruition with the band members themselves as co-producers.
The book tells the whole story of Mötley Crüe, including their struggles with drugs, alcohol, and love affairs. The band was founded in 1981 and has sold over 100 million albums worldwide. In 2014, they disbanded after all members signed a contract stipulating that none of them could use the band's name commercially in the future.
In 2016, Nikki Sixx revealed that there is no chance of the band reuniting for a new album.
