Fernanda Lira from Nervosa talks about sexism, her father's influence, and Nervosa's new album in Kazakhstan.

Fernanda Lira discusses sexism and various other topics on the Kazagastão Program.

The influence of her father, a change of drummer, and a new album were also topics discussed by Fernanda Lira.

Fernanda Lira, bassist, vocalist, and founder of Nervosa, was interviewed by Gastão Moreira on Kazagastão.

Fernanda talked about the influence of her father, who is a headbanger, about the various changes in drummers, about the extensive world tours that Nervosa has already done, and about the new album that has already been recorded.

Regarding sexism in the scene and the fact that the band is all-female, Fernanda said:

“The issue of sexism definitely exists. We live in a sexist society, so it will always be there. But at the beginning of the band it was much worse. We heard some really heavy stuff! I was dating someone, I was very devout, and I heard that we only got gigs because we slept with producers, because we sent nudes to get gigs. For God's sake… What a trashy comment.”

Fernanda adds: "Today, we've earned our place. And the best part is that for other all-female bands in Brazil—and there are many coming up now—'the meat is softened,' you know? We took all the hits and now we're better. We're headbangers just like everyone else; it's the same blood that runs through us."

Nervosa was formed in 2011 and has released 2 studio albums, Victim Of Yourself (2014) and Agony (2016).

The band has already recorded their third album, which is expected to be released in June.
