Fenrir 's Scar alternative gothic metal duo that has been standing out for its absolutely profound and reflective compositions, clothed in the somber yet sensitive guise of the darker side of heavy metal. In their most recent release, the single "Blinded," released on November 19th, the band raises a crucial and often neglected debate about toxic relationships—not necessarily romantic relationships, but any type of relationship that is toxic or harmful, that blinds a person to the point of lying to themselves and insisting on an unhealthy relationship.
The single is another track that will be featured on the band's second studio album, Love|Hate|Hope|Despair , which is being produced by Fabiano Negri at Cultura Pop studio in Campinas-SP, with drums recorded by Icaro Ravelo ( Arkana Fen, Ruins of Elysium) . Negri is also responsible for the synths , piano, and guitar solos on the album.
The album features five previously released singles: “Heal You,” a bilingual ballad released in November 2019, “Curse of Mankind,” “The Enemy Inside,” “Break the Wheel,” and now “Blinded.” Love|Hate|Hope|Despair had its release delayed due to the pandemic and is now scheduled for release in the first half of 2022.
Fenrir's Scar was formed in mid-2015 by musician André Baida and vocalist/lyricist Desireé Rezende from some compositions that André and Desireé created together and presented to producer Fabiano Negri (ex- Rei Lagarto, Unsuspected Soul Band, Dusty Old Fingers ), which became the band's self-titled debut album, released in October 2017, produced by Fabiano and co-produced by Ric Palma at Estúdio Minster in Campinas-SP. The album appeared on numerous best-of-the-year lists in 2017, notably in Roadie Crew and on the Roadie Metal website, where it was selected among the 20 best albums of the year.
The name Fenrir is inspired by the Norse wolf, which, according to mythology, was chained by the gods but managed to break free and devoured Odin. The combination with the English word "scar" refers to an aggressive and emotionally charged sound. The name was inspired by the song "Fenrir's Last Howl" by André Baida's former band, Counterparts , released on their 2007 full-length album A Dreamer Betrayed. The song was re-recorded by Fenrir's Scar on their debut album, with a new arrangement and performed in its entirety by André.
