Last Friday, the 8th, Fender released the results of a survey conducted in conjunction with YouGov, which indicates that approximately 16 million people in the US started playing guitar during the pandemic.

According to the research, three-quarters of the 16 million people are between 13 and 34 years old, corresponding to the results of the instrument company, which had a record month of sales in September 2020.

Fenda states that 62% of the 10,644 people interviewed said that the pandemic was an "important factor in starting their guitar journey." Furthermore, 77% of people reported having more free time during the research period, which led to more time to practice and dedicate to their new hobby.

With this information in hand, Fender decided to create a solution for beginner guitarists, with a virtual network called "Beginner's Hub". According to the company, this includes "all the tools a new instrumentalist needs to start, continue, and eventually master the guitar, bass, or ukulele".

Furthermore, the data shows that 67% of respondents already have other full-time careers or occupations, and therefore intend to keep the guitar as a hobby. It was documented that there are difficulties in maintaining discipline and engagement during practice sessions: a quarter of new enthusiasts feel stuck in their learning paths.

Other figures from the survey indicate that 19% consume guitar-related content daily, while 48% do so at least weekly, always using social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.
