Fender honors Joe Strummer with exclusive guitar and acoustic guitar models.

Products will be available in limited quantities, along with other accessories inspired by The Clash musician

Fender Musical Instruments Corporation (FMIC) has released two exclusive models to honor Joe Strummer , the beloved musician from The Clash who passed away in 2002: the Joe Strummer Campfire and the Joe Strummer Esquire .

The exclusive designs emerge more than 40 years after the release of The Clash's classic album London Calling (1979), and shortly after the remastered compilation of Strummer's solo songs, Assembly . There is also a new line of accessories inspired by the musician, including a replica of his favorite strap.

The guitar has a solid spruce top with mahogany back and sides, a Fender headstock angled backward, a custom sticker with a Campfire logo, and star inlays.

The Joe Strummer Esquire guitar, in turn, has a limited run of only 70 units. Created by Jason Smith, builder at the Fender Custom Shop, the instrument is a faithful reincarnation of the guitar chosen by Joe Strummer during the London Calling and Combat Rock . The product features the iconic black racing stripe, a Bourbon Street , and a custom finish.

In a statement, Lucinda Tait , Joe Strummer's widow, commented: “Joe's Fender guitars were a huge part of his life and, of course, his music. Now seems like the right time to collaborate with Fender on these commemorative guitars, as we take a moment to reflect on all that Joe and his music accomplished. Joe would be immensely proud and excited to hear what these instruments can do in the hands of music lovers around the world.”
