The musician was the last surviving member of the classic lineup

"Fast" Eddie Clarke, former guitarist for Motörhead, has died at the age of 67 after contracting pneumonia.

The news was confirmed by the band's official Facebook page with the following message:

“We are devastated by the news we received earlier today. Edward Allan Clarke – or as everyone knows him, 'Fast' Eddie Clarke – passed away yesterday. Ted Carroll (founder of Chiswick Records) shared the sad news on his Facebook page after Doug Smith told him that Fast Eddie passed away peacefully in the hospital where he was being treated for pneumonia (…)

Fast Eddie, keep roaring and rocking, because your Motörhead family wouldn't expect anything less!!!

Rest in peace Fast Eddie Clarke, October 5, 1950 – January 10, 2018

Clarke was introduced to Lemmy by drummer Phil "Philthy Animal" Taylor in the 70s and he soon joined the band.

The musician was part of Motörhead's first studio album, the self-titled one, released in 1977, and also played on Overkill (1979), Bomber (1979), Ace Of Spades (1980), and Iron Fist (1982). His departure was announced shortly after the release of the latter album, stating that he didn't like the direction they took the record.

Upon leaving the band, Clarke joined Pete Way, former bassist of UFO, and formed Fastway, which released seven studio albums, the last one being Dog Eat Dog .
