Wolfgang Van Halen and Marc LaBelle are leading new rock bands gaining more recognition. Eddie Van Halen is responsible for Mammoth WVH , while LaBelle is the vocalist for Dirty Honey .
The two bands announced a joint tour called the Young Guns Tour , which will take place in North America in 2022, and the artists discussed the sometimes unreceptive reaction of rock fans when new groups emerge in an interview with Loudwire Nights.
“I think a big part of it is nostalgia for ‘things being better in my day’ and for more attention being given to other genres these days. But I think if you say ‘rock is dead,’ you’re wrong,” Van Halen argued. “I think that’s a big point of this tour, is that we’re the ‘youngsters’ of the genre, and we’re here to prove that we can do it just as well as the older guys.”.
LaBelle goes even further in his analysis. “I would argue [that we can do] better in many cases, quite frankly. Rock fans seem to get a little angry with new bands becoming successful on the scene. I remember when Greta [Van Fleet] came out, it was like a mix of people simply hating on them, or people who loved them. Who cares that maybe there was some nostalgia in their sound? It’s good for all of us that they’re successful, why throw hate at them?” he questioned.
