Knotfest Mexico turned into a major mess when Slipknot and Evanescence had to cancel their performances at the event. A barricade broke and the staff couldn't fix it in time, leaving fans furious.
The lineup included Godsmack , Bullet For My Valentine , and Papa Roach , among others. Most of the bands managed to perform, and according to sources at the festival, the barricade was broken during Behemoth . The Knotfest organizers attempted to repair it unsuccessfully and cancelled the remainder of the festival.
When they learned of the cancellation, fans stormed the stage, destroying the equipment that had already been set up for Slipknot and Evanescence's sets. Videos show groups of angry people setting fire to Will Hunt from Evanescence.
Next, the bands took to social media to explain the reason for the cancellation: “We deeply apologize and hope everyone understands. If something like this happened to you, we wouldn't forgive ourselves. Furthermore, if we could have fixed the barricade properly, we would have gone on stage.” Learn more here.
