Fans of Chester Bennington and Linkin Park argued on social media this week that the MTV Video Music Awards, which took place on the 27th, showed a lack of respect for the deceased musician.
Fans say MTV disrespected the tribute, which featured a speech by Thirty Seconds To Mars vocalist Jared Leto, by cutting to a commercial break as soon as the event began airing Linkin Park's 2010 VMA performance. Some comments also referred to the fact that Leto had to ask the audience to stand twice.
Leto gave an emotional speech remembering Chester: “When I think of him, I see his face and he was always smiling. I think of his heart, which was always open, of his wife and his six incredible children. I think of his family. Of his band, who were like brothers to him. And I remember his voice, always fierce and delicate. That voice that will live forever .
