Fans compare Vended to Slipknot: "He could be a better vocalist than Corey Taylor"

The band, formed by the sons of Corey Taylor and Shawn “Clown” Crahan, made their Knotfest debut.

Slipknot fans noticed many similarities between Corey Taylor Vended 's first performance at the Knotfest festival .

Formed by Griffin Taylor (vocalist) and Simon Crahan (drummer), sons of Corey and Shawn “Clown” Crahan , respectively, the band released “Asylum”, their first single , last week.

It was with this song and "Anti Body," also from their original repertoire, that the group took to the Knotfest stage for the first time, debuting at the massive event in Iowa City. The band is also confirmed for the festival lineup in Los Angeles and São Paulo, Brazil, in 2022 .

In the comments about the performance on YouTube , the comparison between Griffin and Corey becomes almost impossible to avoid. With a sound similar to Slipknot, the voices and stage presence of father and son are constantly compared, mostly in a positive way.

"It's crazy how much Griffin looks like his father in his youth. The boy definitely has a future, just keep it up," wrote one internet user. "He really is his father's son," praised another. "Griffin has a really crazy guttural voice, wow!", a third exclaimed in surprise.

"You know what? Griffin could probably become a better vocalist than Corey Taylor. I mean, he has great potential, he's only 20 or something, and his vocals are as good as Corey's when Corey was 25," another comment speculates.

"It's identical to the studio version. I was interested to see how it would be live because it sounds like a painful scream. The guy has talent like his father if this is pure technique," a fan commented about the performance of "Asylum."

Some criticize the advantages that newcomers gain in media exposure and festival spots because of their family ties, but others point to the undeniable talent of the band and its members.

“Vended is good! It’s sad that they always have people saying they won something. Two of the guys won the metal gene lottery and have an advantage; it would be one thing if they were only there because of that. They are a competent band and surprisingly good for their age and how young they are,” argued a fan present at the show.
