The man was identified as Jeffrey Fortune, 52 years old.
The Milwaukee Medical Examiner's Office in Wisconsin, United States, informed CBS 58 and Fox6 News that the fan who died during a Ghost concert in the city last Thursday, the 31st, has been identified as Jeffrey Fortune. He was 52 years old and died from cardiac arrest.
The incident occurred shortly after the band announced an intermission at the Riverside Theater, around 9:15 p.m. Tickets for the performance at the 2,500-seat theater were sold out.
At that moment, a man fell, security was alerted, and first aid was administered for at least 20 minutes. Around 9:45 PM, the cancellation of the show was announced. The Riverside team justified the incident by saying that a "terrible tragedy" had occurred.
According to CBS 58 , a fan stated that theater staff gave confusing instructions to those present. He claimed there was a nurse in the audience who was prevented from helping Fortune before paramedics arrived.
“The guards told everyone to go to one place, and then to another. It was a very stressful situation,” said the fan. The Riverside Theater declined to speak to CBS 58 about the incident, but released a statement offering condolences to the families and saying they were “saddened by the tragedy.”
On Thursday, Ghost also commented on the incident on Twitter . “Tonight in Milwaukee, there was a medical emergency involving one of our fans. We decided not to continue out of respect for him and his family. Ghost and everyone working with us ask that you please send your thoughts and prayers to the family and respect their privacy during this time.”
The band's new album, Prequelle , was released last Friday, the 1st, and you can listen to it here .
