A family living in the state of Virginia, in the United States, reported that their life was saved by Metallica .

Kristin and David McKee 14-year-old daughter Madeleine band , which took place on May 7th in Blacksburg, also in the same state.

In an interview with WDBJT [via Loudersound ], Kristin explained that because of the performance, everyone chose to go to bed early. She also said that she asked her husband if he wanted to stay up watching TV.

The decision to go and rest ended up saving the McKee family's lives, since around 2 a.m., their home was invaded. A pickup truck lost control and ended up crashing into the living room.

“He [David] said something like, ‘Ah, I guess I’ll just go to sleep,’ and I said, ‘Okay, I’ll go to sleep too.’ And then, just a few hours later, we heard a loud explosion, glass shattering, and from then on it was pure madness.”

Because of what happened, the three of them couldn't go to the show. However, Kristin made a point of emphasizing that her family's lives were saved by Metallica.

Currently, the house is undergoing renovations, and in about six months, the McKee family hopes to return to the property.

“We were very lucky because, that night, my daughter managed to walk down the hallway and found us in the rubble, and, you know, I thank God every day — and Metallica — for saving us, because that’s exactly what happened.”

The couple's daughter wrote a letter to Metallica.

In the message, Madeleine thanked the band for "saving the lives" of her parents, and said she will be eternally grateful to the quartet. The young woman also wished them luck on the remainder of the M72 Tour , and said she hopes to see them sometime in the future.

It's worth remembering that the performance in question caused a small earthquake in the city during "Enter Sandman." According to reports, the tremors reached about 1.5 km away from the concert venue.
