Evanescence's 'Fallen' receives diamond certification in the United States

The album has sold over ten million units

Evanescence album Fallen (2003) was certified diamond in the United States on November 30th. According to the Recording Industry Association of America , the album reached ten million units in streams and sales. In addition to the hit "Bring Me To Life," the album featured the singles "Going Under," "My Immortal," and "Everybody's Fool."

In 2023, Fallen turns 20, and vocalist Amy Lee commented in an interview with Rock Sound about plans for a possible celebration (transcription via Blabbermouth ): “I have an idea. It’s going to take a bit of work. But I think it probably won’t be what everyone expects. I think everyone’s thinking, ‘Oh, why don’t you do a show playing the album backwards?’ We’ve done so many shows, I’d rather do something that, for me… I don’t know. I don’t want to give it away in case it doesn’t work out. Maybe I won’t do anything. Don’t expect anything, and if I do something, you’ll be very, very grateful.”

However, the album didn't bring only good things to the band. In 2003, founder and guitarist Ben Moody left Evanescence, leaving Amy as the only original member. The successor to Fallen , The Open Door (2006), only came three years later and ended up not having the same success. “ Fallen is a great album, but I don't think you can try to match the success of another work. I think that will only frustrate you. And if, honestly, what matters is sales and money, there's no way you can make a great work of art, because you'll get all confused and make something naive,” the singer told The Pulse of Radio .

Furthermore, Fallen 's record label threatened not to release it at the time if "Bring Me To Life" didn't feature a male vocalist, in order to make the track more radio-friendly.

Recently, “Bring Me To Life” reached number 1 on iTunes , 19 years after its release. Before that, the track had only reached the top 5. Continuing her interview with Rock Station , Amy Lee revealed her thoughts on this newfound popularity of the song: “There’s an element in a song like ‘Bring Me To Life’ that didn’t exist before, which is this nostalgia. The song grew live. But part of how it grew is with its history and what it means to everyone in the room. It’s not something new; it’s just something you’ve known for a long time that has a place in your heart. It’s just able to be more than it would have been then.”

Finally, The Bitter Truth (2021) is the rock group's most recent album, marking their return after ten years without releasing a new album.
