Fall Out Boy is officially back with the new single “Love From The Other Side” and a release date for their eighth studio album, So Much (For) Stardust .
Longtime fans will be thrilled to notice a darker turn in the band's new music, with more prominent guitars and a darker visual identity. Unlike the experiments with electronic sounds on their last album ( MANIA ), the latest single marks a return to organic instruments and pop rock with a more mature feel for the musicians.
Another great piece of news is that Fall Out Boy seems interested in returning to their roots. For the new album, they've gone back to working with producer Neal Avron , responsible for the albums From Under The Cork Tree (2005), Infinity On High (2007) and Folie à Deux (2008), which boosted the group's international career and contain hits like "Dance, Dance" and "Thnks Fr Th Mmrs".
So Much (For) Stardust is scheduled for release on March 24th and is Fall Out Boy's first album in 4 years, following MANIA (2018). In a statement, vocalist Patrick Stump commented on the importance of returning to analog and making a new album with time and patience "the way it used to be":
“Technology has made it much easier to make albums more quickly recently. There’s nothing wrong with that, and that spontaneity can be exciting. But we wanted to go back to the way we used to work. We wanted to make an album that was shaped with love and guided deliberately and patiently – like someone had cooked a delicate meal for you. I’m not a very proud guy, but I’m very proud of this record.”
So Much (For) Stardust also marks the return of the partnership between Fall Out Boy and the Fueled By Ramen/Elektra , which released the band's debut album, Take This To Your Grave (2003). This is the first time they have worked together in 20 years.
