Faith No More and Mr. Bungle have cancelled all scheduled performances for the fall of 2021 due to mental health reasons of both bands' vocalist, Mike Patton.
In a statement, Patton wrote: “I have issues that have been exacerbated by the pandemic and have been challenging at this time. I feel I can’t give everything I can right now and I won’t give less than 100% to you. I apologize to our fans and hope to make it up to you soon. Both bands support my decision and we look forward to working through this in a healthy way.”
The remaining members of Faith No More released a separate statement expressing their support for Mike Patton and their disappointment at having to cancel the tour dates. “After almost two years of pandemic and inactivity, it has been devastating to give this news to our team. We consider them like family. And equally important, we are aware of what this means for our fans, who have been patiently supporting us – hoping, just like us, for a respite from this frustrating situation,” they wrote.
“Despite all of this, we have a family member who needs help. We believe that insisting on these dates would have a profoundly destructive effect on Mike, whose value to us as a brother means more than his work as a singer. He can count on our full support to do what he needs to improve things, just as we ask for your support now. Thank you for continuing to believe in us.”
