Mourning in the Brazilian metal scene: Fábio Figueiredo , former vocalist of the band John Wayne, passed away today, the 31st, at the age of 34, a victim of complications from COVID-19.

The tragic news was confirmed by the artist's former band, who sadly shared that the musician, who suffered from diabetes, was recently infected with the virus, which caused pneumonia and tuberculosis. Despite the severity of his condition, Fábio showed improvement, resulting in his discharge from the hospital, and he was already back at work; however, fatal complications arose.

“Fah will always be remembered as an exceptional person, with a huge heart, playful, a natural talent for art, and one of the greatest frontmen this underground has ever seen!” the band writes. “His work will never be forgotten; these almost 10 years that you dedicated to John Wayne and everything you did for heavy music in this country—there won't be enough tributes to thank and exalt you.”

Rest in peace, Fabio.
