Oli Sykes, lead singer of Bring Me the Horizon, experienced a tense moment during a performance last Monday, the 11th, in St. Louis, United States. The singer was hit in the face by a cell phone thrown from the audience while the band was performing live.

The vocalist was finishing the fourth song of the show, “Happy Song,” when the phone hit him. Videos recorded by fans show the moment the object appears to hit Oli Sykes in the head or chest before falling to the ground in front of him.

Oli picked up the phone and said, “Who was the son of a b**** who threw a phone?”, then threw it to the security guard near the stage and declared, “But it was worth it, that was awesome.”

According to the website Loudwire, the show continued normally, with 16 songs on the setlist. Later, Oli posted on his Instagram stories that he had suffered a mild concussion and explained what happened:

“I just wanted to let you know that I’m okay. The blow to the head hurt quite a bit, and I ended up with a mild concussion, but the swelling has gone down considerably. Last night, I had a little difficulty on stage after the show because singing was putting a lot of pressure on the injury and making me a little disoriented during the performance, so I apologize for what may have seemed like a lackluster performance. Thank you to everyone who reached out and expressed concern. Everything should go well for tonight’s show.”

Bring Me the Horizon is currently touring the United States and will perform in Brazil in September as part of Rock in Rio 2026.
