Exodus managed to make Monday, April 22nd, feel like a Saturday night. The venue was CWB Hall, a very underground-style nightclub, far from the city center but with good potential for medium-sized shows, and an attentive staff. In short, the kind of place that makes you feel like you're 18 again, at least in my case.

Exodus is already firmly established for its history and importance in the world of thrash metal. Founded in 1980 in Richmond, California, the band is one of the pioneers of the genre and has a history marked by several lineup changes and a series of successful albums.

Exodus, founded by guitarist Kirk Hammett , who later joined Metallica , and the late vocalist Paul Baloff , released their debut album Bonded by Blood in 1985, a classic that remains to this day.

Eskröta opening the night

The opening act was the São Paulo-based trio Eskröta , representing girl power in Brazilian metal. The band was formed in 2017 by Yasmin Amaral and Tamyris Leopoldo , and features drummer Jhon França . In April 2023, Eskröta will release the album *Atenciosamente, Eskröta* , which includes the release of a single, the song "Homem é assim mesmo".

Even though their time was short, they managed to really get the crowd going with “Bife do Inferno” (Hell's Steak); “Instagramável” (Instagrammable) and even a song based on Stephen King “Carry ”. It was worth staying glued to the barrier, because the energy was overwhelmingly good.

The apocalypse called Exodus

Exodus took the stage around 9:30 PM, the scheduled time for the show. The venue was packed, and it was difficult to find an empty spot to see the band. Meanwhile, at the barrier separating the audience from the stage, the fans seemed to be bursting with excitement. Several times the barrier threatened to collapse and was manually held up by numerous security guards. It was impossible not to get excited by Exodus, a band revered by many. The perfection, the heaviness, and at the same time the melody of the extreme, is extraordinary.

The standout performer, Gary Holt, former guitarist of Slayer , who has been with Exodus for several years, delivered incredible riffs. Guitar lovers were delighted by Holt's performance. The band also features Lee Altus on guitar, drummer Tom Hunting , and bassist Jack Gibson.

The songs on the setlist were flawless: “Impact”, “Blacklist”, “Blood In Blood Out”, “Iconoclasm”, among others. Vocalist Steve Zetro Souza exuded energy and charm with the audience, constantly interacting and encouraging them to headbang.

In the final part of the show, many had already left the barrier in front of the stage due to the heat. Even with several fans, it wasn't possible to cool the place down. But everything always ends well when the last songs are "Bonded By Blood," followed by "Toxic Waltz" and "Strike," closing the night.
