Exodus announced last Wednesday, the 21st, the release of their 12th studio album, Goliath, on March 20th, via Napalm Records .
The Bay Area thrash metal icons from San Francisco also released their first single, “3111,” whose music video was deemed “too brutal” for YouTube and is banned from the platform. The full music video is scheduled for release at a later date and location, according to the record label.
In a press release, the band commented: “We decided to go all out with the first single, '3111'. The song is about the drug-related murders in Juárez, and 3111 is the estimated number of homicides in 2010 alone.”
Exodus also spoke about the new album: “Are we excited about this record? That’s an understatement. We put everything we had into this album and it’s 80% complete , but we’ll leave that conversation for another day! It’s one of our greatest achievements. Extremely collaborative, the band’s most focused album to date, with four songs written by Lee [Altus , guitarist], lyrics by Gary [ Holt , guitarist], Rob [ Dukes , vocalist], Lee and Tom [ Hunting, drummer], it’s simply killer from start to finish. The time to unleash the monster is coming.”
