Black Sabbath highly anticipated farewell show took place last Saturday, July 5th, at Villa Park in Birmingham, United Kingdom. Approximately 40,000 people attended the event, with 5.8 million people watching the show online.
Ozzy Osbourne 's performance of "Mama I'm Coming Home," the 1991 classic. Now, a new audio recording of Ozzy's isolated vocals during the song has been released, and it's even more thrilling.
Seated at the front of the stage in an ornate black armchair, Ozzy Osbourne explained [via Billboard ]: “I’ve been bedridden for six damn years, you have no idea how much this means to me.” The eternal Madman brought the audience to tears as he sang “Mama, I’m coming home.”
It was moving to see Ozzy sitting and straining for his final performance, yet he still sang better than many of the artists who performed that day. Definitely the most emotional farewell. Ozzy performed a five-song set, including “I Don't Know”, “Mr. Crowley”, “Suicide Solution”, “Mama I'm Coming Home” and “Crazy Train”.
Vocal coach and content creator Dimitris Barmpas shared the isolated audio on his Instagram profile , with the comment:
“Without the instruments, his isolated vocals in 'Mama, I'm Coming Home' expose every breath, every pause, every bit of vulnerability. His voice, aged by time and Parkinson's, may not be as agile – but it's more honest than ever. He's not just singing. He's pleading. He's not just performing. He's remembering. And through that trembling vibrato and the flaws of emotion, the Prince of Darkness becomes the most luminous figure in the night. This isn't about perfect pitch. It's about presence. It's about the courage to say goodbye, in the only way a true legend can – with an open heart.”
Titled "Back To The Beginning ," the final show by the greatest heavy metal band reunited the four original members. Vocalist Ozzy Osbourne , bassist Geezer Butler , guitarist Tony Iommi , and drummer Bill Ward played together for the first and last time in 20 years.
The band made history by performing with its original lineup, and the festival also featured other big names like Guns N' Roses , Metallica , Tool , Slayer , and many more. Check out here what each guest played at the festival .
