Warrel Dane passed away in December 2017
Former Nevermore guitarist Jeff Loomis spoke in an interview with LoudTv about his former bandmate, Warrel Dane.
“It’s a sad situation with one of my best friends.
He was one of the best lyricists in Metal, a fabulous person! At the same time, he was also a troubled person. He had some problems.
We had many good times together in the past, and we had many bad times, but I would say that the good outweighed the bad. And in the end, we were still talking as friends. (…) It’s a very sad loss for music and he will be remembered as one of the great vocalists of Metal.”
Regarding a possible Nevermore reunion, Jeff added: "There were talks a year and a half ago about a reunion, but it never happened, and obviously, it's not going to happen now."
Jeff left Nevermore along with drummer Van Williams (Ghost Ship Octavius, Ashes Of Ares) in 2011, and currently plays in Arch Enemy and the instrumental band Conquering Dystopia.
Warrel passed away on December 13, 2017, at the age of 56 in São Paulo, due to a heart attack. He was in Brazil recording his solo album, Shadow Work.
