Last Thursday night, the 13th, the Foo Fighters kicked off their UK tour. Taking advantage of the event, let's revisit the story behind one of the group's main tracks, "Everlong".

In an interview with NME , frontman Dave Grohl said he invented the riff for the song during the recording of "Monkey Wrench." "We were sitting in the studio in Washington, the song was in D tuning, and between takes, I found that chord… And I really liked it and turned it into a song. It was Christmas break [when it all happened]." Grohl added, "I did the demo myself, it was super raw."

The first show of the new leg of the Foo Fighters' tour, now in the United Kingdom, featured a previously unreleased song in the setlist: "Unconditional." Although the track was unknown to fans, it surfaced during the band's recording sessions some time ago—and was finally shared with everyone live.

The band played 23 songs during the concert, exploring various phases of their career and including at least one song from each album. The only one left out was Sonic Highways , released in 2014. The track Everlong closed the setlist for the night.

Over the next few months, the Foo Fighters will be playing stadium and festival shows in the UK and later across Europe. Following this series of performances, they will return to the US, where they will perform alongside bands such as The Hives , Amyl and the Sniffers,  Alex G , and L7 .
