Evanescence , as promised, released today, the 24th, the first single from their new album, Bitter Truth ; the track is titled “Wasted On You”. The song is the band's first new release in almost ten years.
The song's completion process entered the pandemic era of music, as Amy Lee in the single , "We were recording this song until we couldn't get into the studio anymore and we finished it remotely through file sharing and phone calls."
Adjusting mixes , adding background vocals, creating the video and album artwork at home has been like water in the desert for me, my light in a dark time. We're still writing and have a lot more work to do on this album, but this time we wanted to release the songs individually, as we create them, to experience the moment more with our fans and our music.”
Regarding the lyrics, Lee sings about an abusive relationship fueled by drugs, drugs she doesn't need because she's already intoxicated by her partner's company, knowing that at any moment the bitter truth will come out. What a powerful start to an era, huh?
