“Yes,” the vocalist replied when asked about the new album. “We don’t have a set date, we’re just working on it. We’re coming off the road in mid-November and we’re being creative.”
Amy Lee revealed that Evanescence often gets together to write new music during the days between shows when they're on tour, renting houses in different cities. "We've found some really cool places doing that," the vocalist commented. "But actually spending time in the studio, with me just focused and all of us taking the time to turn some of these ideas into real songs, has been happening ever since. So, we have a lot of stuff cooking up. I don't have a date for you, but there will be more and more music being released."
With the release of “Afterlife”, Evanescence fans were thrilled. This is the first new song since the release of their last album, The Bitter Truth (2021).
During the interview, Amy Lee also spoke a bit about the creation of this project. “Mako ( Alexander Seaver ), who is a guy who did the soundtrack work for this series, Devil May Cry , started this song and contacted me. We had worked together once before, on a track by Lindsey Stirling during the pandemic. So, I did the vocals for her, and we kept communicating by email. I still haven't met the guy in person. But he said, 'Hey, take a look. Would this be cool? Would you sing on it?' And we ended up finishing the song together and understood: 'This is an Evanescence song. Let's bring the band here and let's take this to the end'.”
