The material will be released this year
In an interview with Team Rock, Evanescence vocalist Amy Lee said that the band is currently in the studio preparing something new and different. The vocalist didn't give any details about the project, but said it's not just a simple album:
"We're working on something new – the information is still confidential for a while longer. But in the near future I'll explain exactly what it is.".
But we're in the studio and we're preparing a new project, and it's something different. It's not just a simple new Evanescence album. It's something unique, complex, a little beyond that – and it's definitely new territory for all of us.
It's very exciting and we're working very hard. I can't say what it is, but we're going to release it later this year.
