The 2021 rock and metal release calendar is incredible. With the first half of the year over, the Wikimetal had the difficult task of selecting the 30 best albums of the year so far , with records ranging from hard rock to death metal on the list.

The ranking had strong contenders, such as the acclaimed collaboration between Adrian Smith and Ritchie Kotzen on Smith/Kotzen , the second album of Greta Van Fleet , and the debut of Wolfgang Van Halen , son of Eddie Van Halen , on Mammoth WVH , just to name a few. But which one will be our audience's favorite?

With over 3,000 votes, the poll about the best release of the first half of 2021 concentrated more than 60% of the final vote on the podium formed by three highly anticipated albums.

In third place, the highly anticipated return of Helloween , the group's first work since the return of vocalist Michael Kiske and guitarist Kai Hansen alongside the other five members. The self-titled achieved incredible positions in best-selling rankings worldwide and 20% of the votes in the poll.

In second place, Edu Falaschi 's solo debut garnered 24% of the votes. With the concept album Vera Cruz , set between Brazil and Portugal during colonial times, the vocalist brought together big names in Brazilian music , from Max Cavalera to Elba Ramalho , to celebrate 30 years of his career. The project also appeared in the Top 5 most anticipated of the year .

The best album of 2021 was also voted the Wikimetal readers in February: The Bitter Truth Evanescence 's return after 10 years without new music, was voted over a thousand times and won 34% of the poll votes.
