Evanescence has announced that it will release the second book in its comic book series, Echoes From The Void , created in partnership with the production company Incendium through its OPUS .
Titled The Revolution Of Cassandra , the new comic book is inspired by the single “Use My Voice,” released by the band on the album The Bitter Truth in March 2021. The story was written by director Eric D. Howell.
“‘The Revolution of Cassandra’ is the story of a strong woman standing up for her beliefs in a cynical and hostile world. As one of my earliest readers, I asked Amy [Lee] to write the epigraph for the comic, in case she connected with it in any way. She had a strong response to the material and immediately sent me the outline of a song she was working on. She really identified with a central idea in the story. The song and the story had this thematic echo – frankly, it was a little magical,” said Eric.
Speaking about the new project, vocalist Amy Lee commented (via Blabbermouth ): “A few years ago, my friend and director Eric Howell sent me this piece he was writing called 'Cassandra's Revolution' (…) The more I read it, the more I heard the song I was writing, 'Use My Voice', because I felt that the song and Cassandra lived in the same world.”
The material will be sold exclusively through the Incendium website and is already available for pre-order . Shipments will only take place in December.
The first book in the Echos From the Void series was inspired by the songs “Better Without You” and “Wasted on You.” Three more books will be released in the future, bringing the total to five. The cover of The Revolution of Cassandra was designed by Esau Escorza and Sebastian Cheng , and the interior artwork was created by several other artists.
