During an appearance on the TV show The View , actress Evan Rachel Wood said she was "not afraid" of the lawsuit filed against her Marilyn Manson . The musician accuses her of defamation, fraud, and conspiracy based on allegations of psychological, physical, and sexual abuse that the actress made against him.

In her statement, Rachel Wood said that Manson's attitude is part of the "retaliation" suffered by "survivors" who report abuse, and asserted that she does not feel intimidated by the lawsuit.

“Obviously, I can’t speak about the specific allegations in the lawsuit, but I’m not afraid. I’m sad because that’s how it works. This is what happens to practically every survivor who tries to expose someone in a position of power, and this is part of the retaliation that keeps survivors silent,” the actress states.

“That’s why people don’t report it. This was expected. I am very confident that I have the truth on my side and that it will be revealed, and that this was clearly calculated [to be released] before the documentary. There is a reason,” he continues.

“I’m not doing this to clear my name,” the actress concludes. “I’m doing this to protect people. I’m doing this to sound the alarm that there’s a dangerous person out there and I don’t want anyone getting near him. So people can think what they want of me. I need to wait for the natural conclusion of the legal process. And I’m standing firm as a rock.”

The documentary mentioned by Evan Rachel Wood is called Phoenix Rising and premieres this Tuesday, the 15th, on HBO. The film promises to expose in more detail the series of abuses suffered by the actress during her relationship with Marilyn Manson.

Recently, lawyers for a former assistant of the singer, Ashley Walters , who also filed a lawsuit against him , claimed that the victim was threatened with "legal retaliation" if she participated in Evan Rachel Wood's documentary.
