Erik Rutan , of Cannibal Corpse , had his home severely damaged by Hurricane Helene. The guitarist lives in St. Petersburg, Florida, where the storm made landfall last Friday, August 27, causing widespread flooding.

According to the Tampa Bay Times , the city where Rutan lives experienced water levels exceeding 1.8 meters and more than 160 kilometers of flooded roads.

On Facebook , Cannibal Corpse published an official statement regarding the situation ( via Blabbermouth ): “Due to the catastrophic damage caused by Hurricane Helene, Erik Rutan has left the tour to be with his family during this difficult time. Our hearts are with Erik and his wife as they deal with this dramatic situation.”

Cannibal Corpse's European tour with the bands Municipal Waste , Immolation, and Schizophrenia began on September 20th in Germany and will end on October 20th.

Erik Rutan has been a permanent member of Cannibal Corpse since 2021 and has previously been part of Ripping Corpse , Morbid Angel , and Hate Eternal , where he was the vocalist and lead guitarist. In addition to being an instrumentalist, Rutan owns Mana Recording and produced four Cannibal Corpse studio albums before becoming the band's guitarist, replacing Pat O'Brien .
