Eric Clapton recently announced two tribute concerts for guitarist Jeff Beck , who passed away in early January due to sudden bacterial meningitis . The performances will take place on May 22nd and 23rd at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
Tickets go on sale next Wednesday, the 15th, on the Bookings Direct website . The tribute will feature numerous artists such as Rod Stewart , Johnny Depp , Susan Tedeschi , Billy Gibbons , Gary Clark Jr. , and more. In 2022, Beck and Depp released the album 18 (2022). The thirteen tracks range from original compositions to classic covers.
Due to the late guitarist's long involvement with the environment, the event's profits will be donated to Folly Wildfire Rescue , which provides support for wildlife.
Jeff Beck replaced Eric Clapton in The Yardbirds in 1985, and since then there have been rumors of a healthy rivalry. Previously, according to Far Out Magazine , Jeff commented on the supposed competitive relationship: “I know he didn’t like the fact that I surpassed him in the Yardbirds, and we got along very well. The buzz around the band was that it was over when Eric left. At my debut with the Yardbirds at the Marquee Club in London, I showed them how the band played, and I got a standing ovation, so that story ended.”
