Epica will release a book about the band's history with previously unreleased statements and images.

The launch is scheduled for 2019.

Epica is working on creating their first book, The Essence Of Epica , which will tell the story of the Dutch band's journey in their own words, from their origins as symphonic metal newcomers to becoming giants of the genre. The passages will feature rare photos as illustrations.

The story will ultimately include testimonials from all current members of the group, as well as former members, friends, and colleagues of the current members. For more information about the book, visit EpicaBook.com .

In 2017, when asked what the biggest lesson he had learned since forming Epica in 2002 was, Mark Jansen , guitarist and guttural vocalist of the band who recently confirmed that Epica would begin composing a new album, replied:

“There were many lessons. One of the biggest things I learned is that success is good, but we shouldn't take it so seriously. When I played in After Forever, I was considered a hero by many, and the next day I was no longer in the band. That's when 90% of people lose interest in you. That's a great lesson.”

“And also understand that no matter what others tell you, always be a little suspicious. Because when they are happy, people often tell the truth, but that's because they admire you, and suddenly that may not be the case anymore. Soon they start admiring someone else. That was the lesson I had to learn, and it's something that helps me keep my feet on the ground. It's a good lesson,” he concludes.
