Epica released their new single “Avatar – The Final Incarnation” this Thursday, the 11th. The single is accompanied by a video with artwork inspired by their upcoming album Aspiral – Oracle Card Set , scheduled for release on January 7th.

In a press release, guitarist Mark Jansen gave more details about the inspiration behind the song: “In Hindu philosophy, Kalki represents the final avatar who restores balance at the end of times. This idea of breaking free from cycles — through self-realization, detachment from desires, and inner transformation — resonates deeply with me. 'Avatar' channels this journey towards liberation, something powerful and universal.”

Vocalist Simone Simons added: “We are very excited to start the European tour. Sharing the stage with our amazing fans night after night is the essence of what we do. And this new song will surely warm you up for the journey we are about to embark on together.”

Aspiral – Oracle Card Set is a beautiful luxury box set containing a 12-card oracle deck (one card for each song and an extra artist card called “The Map”), a manual with a detailed guide, and an incense holder, all designed and sculpted by Hedi Xandt, who also created the cover art for
Epica's latest album, Aspiral.
