Elton John is the first headliner for Rock in Rio 2026. The announcement was made this Tuesday, November 25th.
The singer will give a unique performance in Brazil, exclusively at the festival. The performance will be on September 7th, on the Palco Mundo stage. The artist's last visit to Brazil was eight years ago, in 2017, with his Wonderful Crazy Night , shortly before the start of Farewell Yellow Brick Road – his farewell tour.
In a social media post, Elton explained the reason for his surprising return to Brazil amidst his retirement: “In September 2026 I’m going to Rio to play at Rock in Rio. And the reason is: I didn’t go to Rio on the Farewell Yellow Brick Road and I felt I disappointed many Brazilian fans. So I want to make up for that. Come in September and I’ll give you a fantastic show. I’m super excited about it.”
The Rock in Rio Card will go on sale on December 9th at 7 PM. The pre-sale, for Rock in Rio Club members, will take place on December 4th, also at the same time. The ticket, purchased in advance, allows you to choose the date you will attend the festival [ via g1 ].

Elton John's performance at Rock in Rio will be historic.
The performance will have an even greater cathartic flavor, since Elton John didn't have a chance to say goodbye to Brazil on his final tour. The singer's last visit to the country was in 2017, with the Wonderful Crazy Night tour . The following year, Elton began his farewell tour, which was interrupted due to the COVID-19 pandemic and a hip fracture suffered by the artist in 2021.
The artist performed what was supposed to be the last show of his career in 2023. On that occasion, Elton John concluded his Farewell Yellow Brick Road in Stockholm, Sweden, to an audience of 30,000 people.
