Howard Stern Show radio program , Metallica joined Miley Cyrus for a moving performance of "Nothing Else Matters" and received an online visit from Elton John , who also features on the new version of the song and almost brought James Hetfield to tears.

During his appearance, Elton praised the band immensely, and it's possible to see Hetfield's emotional reaction, who was clearly touched by the musician's words. "For me, this is one of the best songs ever written," said Elton John. "It's a song that never gets old. And I couldn't wait to play this track. The string structure, the melodies, the changes in tempo, it's completely dramatic."

“Metallica is probably the crème de la crème of bands of this type. You can’t really define them. They’re not heavy metal, they’re musical. Their songs aren’t just heavy metal, they’re beautiful. This is such a melodic song – it’s fucking good, actually,” Elton concluded.

Lars Ulrich took the microphone to thank Elton John for his comments and said that 40 years ago, Metallica couldn't have even imagined they would be alongside "one of the biggest stars in the world," referring to Miley Cyrus, and hearing praise from Elton. "To hear what you just said, Elton, sitting next to James… The reaction I saw in his body language when you said it was one of the best songs ever written… It's incredible to hear."
