After being voted the world's most "heavy-handed" drummer , Eloy Casagrande of Sepultura Modern Drummer readers as one of the most extraordinary drummers of the past year, receiving the most votes in the "Metal" category.
Regarding the award, Eloy commented: “ Modern Drummer has always been a benchmark in the drumming community, and winning the metal category means a lot to me. I feel like an apprentice among so many incredible drummers, and I don't know if I deserve this award. It's not just about winning, but about being true to your art and being recognized for it. I want to thank everyone who voted and also Modern Drummer for their continued and extremely important service to our music world.”
Modern Drummer has been holding this annual vote among its readers since 1979. In addition to dividing the favorites to be voted on by category, the magazine also elects a great name in drumming to be honored in the "Hall of Fame." In 2021, the chosen one was Sheila E.
