The heavy metal supergroup Elegant Weapons performed several shows across Europe between June and July 2023. At one of these performances, during Resurrection Fest in Spain, the band played their version of the Black Sabbath , "War Pigs." The professionally filmed video is now available.
Elegant Weapons performed with vocalist Ronnie Romero ( Rainbow , MSG ), guitarist Richie Faulkner ( Judas Priest ), bassist Dave Rimmer ( Uriah Heep ), and drummer Christopher Williams ( Accept ). During their European tour, the supergroup performed with Pantera , made festival debuts, and headlined their shows.
The band, however, features bassist Rex Brown ( Pantera , Down ) and drummer Scott Travis ( Judas Priest ) in its original lineup and on the recording of their debut album, Horns For A Halo , released on May 26, 2023, by Nuclear Blast . The album was produced by legendary British producer Andy Sneap , who has worked with Judas Priest, Accept, Exodus , Megadeth , among many others.
In an interview with Portuguese journalist Jorge Botas of Metal Global , Richie Faulkner shared with fans that recording for Elegant Weapons' second album has already begun. According to Faulkner: "We've already started. We recorded the drums for the second album. We got together in the studio to record the drums. So, the race has already begun."
In the same interview, Faulkner commented on the future of his new project: “When I started Elegant Weapons, I didn’t want us to be a one-album band. I still hope to record many albums, grow and evolve together. The next album is just one part of that process.”
Richie Faulkner and Judas Priest
Finally, Richie Faulkner stated that he wants to focus on Elegant Weapons full-time when Judas Priest officially ends its activities.
“The Priest’s music will outlive us. They are iconic songs. Composed by musicians, by a band, that defined an entire musical genre. None of us will get through this alive, but Judas Priest’s work will last much longer. That’s just the reality. I joined the band on what should have been the farewell tour. Fortunately, it wasn’t, and we’re still together 12 years later.”
"It's fantastic, but I think it would have been foolish, even given the circumstances of the tour, not to consider what I would do afterwards. It was supposedly the last tour. What will I do next? That's always been on my mind. If the time ever comes for one last tour, or one last album with Priest, it seems like the natural path to continue with Elegant Weapons."
