Ego Kill Talent releases first EP with Emmily Barreto; listen to 'Call Us By Her Name'

The project includes 4 tracks, including the already released “Call Us By Her Name” and “Finding Freedom”

Ego Kill Talent Call Us By Her Name , this Friday, the 10th .

The project marks the beginning of a new phase in the band's career, with Emmily Barreto ( Far From Alaska ) on vocals . In addition to the previously released tracks ( "Call Us By Her Name" and "Finding Freedom" ), the EP also features the unreleased tracks "When It Comes" and "Need No One To Dance".

In an interview with Wikimetal , Theo van der Loo comments on the band's current moment: “We were already looking to think outside the box. It was a conversation we'd already had amongst ourselves. We already wanted to expand our universe, and when Emmily arrived bringing new possibilities, we embraced that.”

With the arrival of Emmily Barreto, Ego Kill Talent is in a completely new phase. In their new songs, they allowed themselves to experiment with lighter sounds, more influenced by pop and dance rhythms, bringing a bit more fun and freshness to the heavy rock they are known for.

“We consume a lot of pop music. We really like it,” comments Miguel Boaventura . “And when it came time to compose, some of these elements started to emerge. Leaving more space in the songs, more groove. It's like we were saying: headbanging, but dancing, shaking your hips too.”

But the new phase of Ego Kill Talent isn't just about dance music. They refer to this introductory EP as "the silence before the explosion" and assure that "we're making some really heavy songs."

“There are already very powerful riffs in these four [tracks], very visceral things,” adds Miguel. “And Emmily is very visceral. She has a stage presence, a good kind of anger, a loving anger, that is very strong. I think these two universes crossing over at this moment is meant to be. Having a super-powerful woman at the head of the band is natural for us.”
