Edy Star , an iconic musician of Brazilian glam rock, died this Thursday, April 24th, at the age of 87. The musician from Bahia had been hospitalized at the Heliópolis Hospital Complex in São Paulo after suffering a domestic accident almost a week ago.
The information was released on the musician's social media through his friend and biographer Ricardo Santhiago :
"It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Edy Star, in the early hours of today, April 24th. He arrived at the hospital in critical condition, underwent dialysis, but faced more severe complications.
Edy lived as he wished—with art, courage, and freedom—and will always deserve our applause. We deeply appreciate all the expressions of affection, solidarity, and support in recent days. We will soon provide details about the funeral.

Edy Star was proud to be the first Brazilian artist to publicly identify as LGBTQIAP+, and was also a pioneer of theater and popular music in the state. His best-known work is the album Sociedade da Grã-Ordem Kavernista Apresenta Sessão das 10 (1971), which he recorded alongside Raul Seixas , Sérgio Sampaio , and Miriam Batucada . He also participated in the Brazilian production of The Rocky Horror Show and released his solo album Sweet Edy in 1974.
