Eduardo Paes , the mayor of Rio de Janeiro, announced that the Irish band U2 would be the next to perform at the annual event " Todo mundo no Rio" – denying this minutes later through his account on the social network X.

The announcement was made this Thursday afternoon, the 24th, by Mayor Eduardo Paes, during a presentation at the Roxy Dinner Show, an event that showcases the city's calendar of attractions.

Paes declared: “I want to announce that U2 will be here next year, right? Don't believe anything I say or that I leak.” The mayor also joked, saying he will try to bring Beyoncé in the future: “If we manage to do that, I'll be the king of the gays.”

Minutes later, the mayor went to social media to clarify: “To whom it may concern: I did not announce a U2 concert in Copacabana next year. The only thing I said is that I would like to have U2 in Copacabana next year. Thank you for your attention!”

The "Everyone in Rio" project brought Madonna in 2023 and will bring Lady Gaga next week as the main attraction in 2025. The event is free.
