In celebration of Earth Day on April 22nd, Pearl Jam 's lead singer, Eddie Vedder , did nothing less than interview a group of astronauts through NASA .

Through a video call, Vedder spoke with the crew aboard the International Space Station, which is currently orbiting Earth more than 400 kilometers away, according to NASA.

The group that spoke with Eddie Vedder consisted of astronauts Kayla Barron , Raja Chari , Thomas Marshburn , and Mark Vande Hei , as well as Matthias Maurer from the European Space Agency. In one of his questions, the singer asked for tips on how Earthlings can better get along with each other, since the team in space spends all their time together.

“I think one lesson we’ve learned is that there are no borders here,” Chari replied. “It’s quite difficult to figure out which part of the Earth we’re flying over because it’s all land and water, there are no recognizable markers. For us, it’s a great reminder that we’re all working together on the same Earth.”

His crewmate, Marshburn, added that the diversity of the group of astronauts gathered together also highlighted their similarities rather than their differences, and mentioned the different holidays they celebrate with each other. "That perspective of yours is very rare," Vedder commented.
