Eddie Vedder and The Who perform together for a charity event.

They played “The Punk And The Godfather” at the Royal Albert Hall

Eddie Vedder and The Who played together last Thursday, the 20th, at the Royal Albert Hall , the legendary concert venue in London.

The show is part of a series of benefit performances for the Teenage Cancer Trust , a social project that supports cancer treatment for teenagers in England.

Vedder appeared in the latter part of the show, when Roger Daltrey brought him up to sing together “The Punk and The Godfather” from the 1973 Quadrophenia

Eddie Vedder and The Who have already collaborated several times.

They had already performed "The Punk and The Godfather" together in 2019.

Furthermore, The Who and Eddie Vedder have a history of singing together for charitable causes. 

One of those occasions was at a private show for Teen Cancer America , an organization founded by Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend that assists in the treatment of young people in the USA.

Other collaborations with the same purpose took place in Los Angeles in 2022, and in Chicago in 2015 .

Not to mention that Eddie Vedder participated in the inaugural Teenage Cancer Trust at the Royal Albert Hall in 2000.

A series of concerts for a good cause.

This Sunday, the 24th, a special closing event for TCT's 2024 shows will take place, called Ovation , in celebration of the project's 24th anniversary.

In addition to marking the anniversary of the TCT concerts, it is also a farewell to Roger Daltrey as curator of the concerts after more than twenty years.

The musician will continue as an honorary patron of the institution, which has raised over £32 million over the years through concerts alone.

The fundraising helped finance 29 specialist cancer treatment units for young people in hospitals within the UK's National Health Service.

For now, all that is known about the Ovation is that Eddie Vedder, Kelly Jones, Robert Plant & Saving Grace , and Paul Weller .

Before the closing event, there will still be performances by Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds and Blossoms on the 21st, Young Fathers on the 22nd, and Chemical Brothers on Saturday the 23rd.
