It's easy to imagine that Wolfgang Van Halen sought advice from his father, the legendary Eddie Van Halen , when he decided to learn to play his first musical instrument, right?
Despite being a genius when it came to playing, Eddie lacked the teaching skills to pass on valuable tips to his son, as Wolfgang told the Indulge Express (via Ultimate Guitar AC/DC -style beat, using magazines, and when he realized I could do it, he gave me a drum set for my birthday," he said.
Like his father, Wolfgang started with the drums before moving on to other instruments. “My dad rarely taught me, he was a bad teacher (laughs). It’s like when you’re too good for your own good, that sort of thing,” he continued. “So he’d do something crazy and say, ‘Do this,’ and I’d be like, ‘Okay?’ It was very funny.”
