The musician was rehearsing at a time when Van Halen was without a vocalist
TMZ sources , Eddie Van Halen has filed a lawsuit against a cameraman hired in 2006 for a potential "DVD or other video project .
The guitarist claims the documentary was never released because he didn't like the final result and is accusing cinematographer Andrew Bennett of trying to sell the footage without permission.
The material in question is from a rehearsal that took place in 2006 with Eddie, his son Wolfgang Van Halen (bass) and Alex Van Halen (drums) before Van Halen announced they would be reuniting with original vocalist David Lee Roth for their first tour together in 20 years.
Sources reveal that Eddie said the cameraman threatened to release the footage because he never received payment for his work. The guitarist also claims that he made a deal with Bennet in 2015 where he retained part of the rights to the footage, but now, according to the court document, he tried to sell the material and released a trailer with some excerpts.
Eddie asked the judge to take the trailer down and prohibit Bennet from selling the footage. No further information about the case or the material has been released.
