Eddie Van Halen was diagnosed with tongue cancer nearly 20 years ago. Now, sources close to the musician have told TMZ that the legendary guitarist is being treated for throat cancer.
In 2000, Eddie underwent surgery to remove part of his tongue as part of his cancer treatment. Two years later, he was cancer-free. According to the website, the musician has been receiving radiation therapy at a medical center in Germany for the past five years.
The same sources say that the treatment is showing results and that Eddie should be free of the disease again soon. No information has been confirmed by the guitarist or his family.
The TMZ report comes just days after Van Halen frontman David Lee Roth confessed that he believes the band is over. “Van Halen isn’t coming back the way we know it. That being said, Eddie needs to tell his story, because it’s not mine to go around telling,” he said in a recent interview.
