Eternal mourning in the music world: legendary guitarist and founder of the band that bears his name, Eddie Van Halen, died today at the age of 65, a victim of throat cancer.
The news was confirmed by his son and current bassist for the band, Wolf , on social media, who wrote, "I can't believe I'm having to write this, but my father, Edward Lodewijk Van Halen, lost his long and arduous battle with cancer this morning."
"He was the best father I could have asked for. Every moment I shared with him on and off stage was a gift. My heart is broken and I don't think I'll ever recover from this loss. I love you so much, Dad," he concludes.
