Heritage Auctions has announced the auction of the legendary Frankenstrat guitar, formerly owned by the late Eddie Van Halen . The instrument originally belonged to EVH, however, the musician gifted it to his idol Leslie West of Mountain.

The Frankenstrat was built in 1984 by Steve Ripley , and Eddie used it on the tours for the albums 1984 and 5150. The bid has already reached $75,000, approximately R$450,000 at the current exchange rate. For more information click here.

The guitar has a dark rosewood neck and a Floyd Rose tremolo. The body of the instrument was spray-painted, and the stripes were hand-painted, probably by Eddie himself. The stripes, which were originally white, have turned yellowish and creamy over time.
