See the testimony.
Journalist Eddie Trunk, known for That Metal Show and his radio program on Sirius/XM, used his show this week to comment on the Metal scene's support for Lady Gaga. The pop star, who was praised by Scott Ian for her Super Bowl halftime show, will perform a duet with Metallica at the Grammys on the 12th.
Check out Trunk's statement:
"Who would have thought that this woman would have cured cancer yesterday during the Super Bowl? People are freaking out, what the heck happened? I saw some clips online, it was a good pop show, but seriously? Again, a talented, cool woman, but I'll say what bothers me when Lady Gaga enters my world."
People are saying, 'Hey, let's support her. Metal fans, let's support her because she's a metal fan.' We've heard this from this woman for years because she showed up at a Kiss or Iron Maiden concert. Okay, that's great, but stop talking about the metal business!
If you were a huge fan of Hard Rock and Metal, you would do that! You would support her, embrace her! I can't understand how people say that. Please stop! If she were truly a Metal fan, she wouldn't be playing Pop music. She's a Pop artist.
Great, maybe she likes an Iron Maiden song, maybe she likes Run To The Hills, or maybe she's heard it once. Maybe she knows Rock N' Roll All Nite, but something tells me I wouldn't be able to sit down with her and talk about the Plaster Caster solo from Love Gun.
So let's all calm down about this 'she's rock, let's support her' talk. With all due respect to her and everything she does, but I can't sit here and keep yelling about how brilliant she is. She's good at what she does, in her field, stop trying to make her a rockstar. Like, why did she wear a Metallica t-shirt once? I hate that!! Sorry, sorry people, I have to say what I feel.
I see these guys on Twitter saying, 'Remember, she's a metalhead!' So play Metal! If you call yourself a Metalhead and you live and die to support it, then how the hell do you make the music you make? It doesn't make sense! Nothing against that music, if you like it, great!
So, what's the deal? Are you going to tell me you're so diverse that one minute you're listening to 'Hell Awaits' by Slayer and the next you're listening to music that sounds like Madonna? Oh, come on! Then again, I'm sure she likes rock, but we have to stop with the 'she's so metal!' thing. Until she makes a metal album, she's not metal to me.”
