Ed Sheeran in metal? Dani Filth, from Cradle of Filth, confirms possible collaboration.

Known for his romantic hits, the pop star revealed he's been a fan of death metal since his youth.

Dani Filth , vocalist of Cradle of Filth , recently received an invitation to visit Ed Sheeran . Will the pop star, known for his romantic acoustic hits, delve into death metal?

In July, Sheeran revealed his unusual childhood musical tastes and expressed interest in eventually venturing into the genre. “I really liked death metal as a kid. I listened to Cradle of Filth, Slipknot and all that stuff. I’m not saying I might ever get into that world. I learned all those guitar riffs when I was a kid,” he told The  Sun.

After the interview was published, Dani Filth supported the artist, saying that "it could work," but expressed disbelief. "I'll believe it when I see it," he wrote on social media. The exchange of public interactions seems to have started something bigger, and Sheeran's idol confirmed the exchange of emails about a possible musical collaboration.

“I was invited to his house. Well, he said he could visit me, but I reminded him that I don’t own my own bar or villa, so it would be better if I went there,” he explained to Kerrang ! radio. “He said he would do anything. Literally. He said he’s a big fan. He seems like a genuinely very nice guy, actually.”

Filth also commented on the band's prerogative to not heed the public's expectations and to do the opposite. "So, in that sense, I think a collaboration with Ed Sheeran would be a lot of fun. I think it would be good if we did [a song] for charity, because at least it would bring credibility," he concluded.
