Ed Sheeran , the pop star known for his romantic compositions, revealed an unexpected musical taste in his teens – and doesn't rule out the possibility of venturing into death metal at some point in his career.

In an interview with The Sun , Sheeran cited the heavier bands he listened to when he was young. “I really liked death metal as a kid. I listened to Cradle of Filth , Slipknot , and all that stuff,” he said. “I’m not saying I could ever get into that world. I learned all those guitar riffs as a kid.”

Although he has no concrete plans to venture into a musical genre completely different from his work so far, the singer left the idea open. "That's something I've never thought about doing – but something I wouldn't be opposed to creating," he concluded.

Dani Filth , vocalist of Cradle of Filth, shared the news on social media with the hashtag “unexpected collaborators.” “I’ll believe it when I see it,” he wrote before making a joke referencing Sheeran’s latest music video, for the track “Bad Habits,” in which the star plays a vampire. “The Suffolk guy could work out in the end. Anyone [think of] ‘Dracula’s Castle on the Hill’?”
