Dolmayan says the band has issues to resolve
In an interview with Loudwire, System Of A Down drummer John Dolmayan spoke about the possibilities of a new System Of A Down album. According to Dolmayan, the band still needs to resolve some issues before getting together to record.
“Fifteen years will pass and we still haven’t recorded a new album. For me, this is irritating. But the best I can do is think that we still have to work on many aspects to make it really good, and if it’s not fantastic, there’s no reason to do it.”.

The drummer, however, explained that the band had come close to starting the songwriting process, but something always gets in the way: “It always seems like just when we're about to start, something happens and makes it impossible. We could have started already, but we couldn't for personal reasons that I can't talk about now. But it's a good thing. We could be in the studio right now, but because of something very positive, we're not.”
System Of A Down released their last album in 2005, but reunited for several shows in 2011, 2012, and 2013.
